I am a physician-scientist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurosciences at the University of California, San Diego. I am interested in understanding the mechanisms by which genetic and environmental factors modulate the gene expression of specific cell types in Alzheimer’s disease. My research focuses on cell-type-specific transcriptomic, epigenomic and genomic changes that contribute to aging and neurodegeneration. Following my residency in Neurology and a fellowship in movement disorders at the University Hospital Erlangen, Germany, under the guidance of Professor Jürgen Winkler, I joined the laboratory of Professor Chris Glass at UCSD to focus on the epigenetic landscape of microglia in neurodegenerative diseases.
