Sara Venters is a researcher at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). I completed my PhD studies at the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand and postdoctoral training at UCSF. I am a developmental biologist with a particular interest in tissue morphogenesis and cell fate specification and determination. We primarily use an avian model to investigate eye morphogenesis and the mechanisms through which multiple cell fates are established and incorporated into a mature, functional eye. Specifically, we are interested in the embryonic history required to establish the central retina.
