Dr. Ross Poché is an assistant professor in the Department of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics at Baylor College of Medicine. Over the last fifteen years, he has utilized mouse genetics and molecular biology to study the mechanisms of gene regulation that impact retinal development and differentiation. Currently, in addition to retinal regeneration, the Poché lab is investigating precisely how mitochondrial activity, and other metabolic pathways, interface with the cell cycle during retinogenesis. Additionally, to better understand the dynamic nature of the developing retina and the pathological consequence of specific genetic alterations, he has developed live, fluorescent microscopy imaging techniques. The lab’s long-term goal is to use this multidisciplinary approach to gain significant insight into retinal development and disease, potentially impacting the lives of patients.
