Patsy Nishina, Ph.D. focuses on the identification of genes and pathways important in retinal development, function, and maintenance. A combination of molecular genetic approaches—including but not limited to positional cloning of spontaneous and chemically induced mutations, expression profiling, functional interaction assays, and modifier screens—are utilized to discover these pathways. She has spent her professional career generating mouse models for retinal disease for the research community through her Translational Vision Research Models program at The Jackson Laboratory.
