Dr. Neetu Kushwah is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Ophthalmology at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. She received her PhD degree in life sciences with a specialization in neuroscience from Defense Research and Development Organization in New Delhi, India. Dr. Kushwah’s research interests in the neuro-ophthalmology field drove her to her current work on developing potential therapeutic strategies to improve the vision health of the elderly. Her research project focuses on exploring the molecular basis of age-related macular degeneration pathogenesis and identifying potential therapies. Specifically, she has been actively investigating a lipid-sensing nuclear receptor retinoic acid related orphan receptor alpha (RORa), which is genetically linked with AMD, and may regulate lipid dysregulation and chronic inflammation crucial for AMD pathogenesis.
