Narendra Pandala, PhD, received his bachelor's in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Mumbai. He earned his PhD in chemical and biochemical engineering from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, working in Dr. Erin Lavik's lab. Dr. Pandala's thesis was on developing novel biomaterials and approaches to model the colon crypt in vitro. He is a postdoc in Dr. Budd Tucker's lab at the Institute for Vision Research at the University of Iowa. His work is focused on developing therapies to replace choroidal endothelial cells for treatment of early age-related macular degeneration and developing biomaterials for in vitro and in vivo applications.
