Dr. Muller is Professor of Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He began working on vision as a graduate student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has maintained an active interest in vision research while studying mechanisms for successful nerve and synapse regeneration and basic mechanisms of nerve cell signaling in research long supported by the NIH. He has now teamed with Dr. Jeffrey Goldberg (Dept. of Ophthalmology) and their joint student Praseeda Venugopalan (Neuroscience Graduate Program) and is developing methods for restoring functional retinal ganglion cells to glaucomatous retinas as an important step in restoring vision.
