Dr. Juan F. Codocedo is a post-doctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Gary Landreth in the Stark Neurosciences Research Institute at Indiana University School of Medicine. He received his degree in Biochemistry from Santiago University of Chile and a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the Catholic University of Chile where he worked under the supervision of Prof. Nibaldo Inestrosa, an internationally recognized expert in the AD field. Dr. Codocedo has published 15 papers, seven as first author. Dr. Codocedo initially trained in electrophysiology before shifting focus to intracellular signal transduction mechanisms. More recently, he has investigated impaired cognition in mouse models of AD and has expanded his training to focus on the role of microglial metabolism in the pathogenesis of AD in the laboratory of Dr. Landreth a world-renowned AD researcher with tremendous expertise in AD, Trem2, microglia, and AD mouse models. These timely and innovative studies seek to examine the role of hexokinase 2 (HK2), a critical enzyme of glycolysis, in the progression of AD, linking alterations in microglial metabolism to inflammation with a goal to develop novel AD therapies targeting inflammation.
