I completed my BS and MS at the University of Tehran and received my PhD from Weill Cornell Medical College. At WCMC, I worked on disease modeling and drug discovery in diabetes using human pluripotent stem cells. My thesis work got me interested in the role of cellular stress pathways in aging and age-related diseases, and I moved to the University of Pennsylvania as a postdoc to study the molecular mechanisms of chronic inflammation in senescence and aging. I then moved back to WCMC and joined Dr. Li Gan's lab, where I study the contribution of inflammatory pathways to the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases.
