Revathi Balasubramanian, PhD

Dr. Balasubramanian is an associate research scientist at Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Balasubramanian got her Ph.D. at the University of Rochester, where she studied the role of transcription factors in retinal subtype development. This early work was followed by postdoctoral research at Columbia University, where she studied the role of signaling factors in optic cup development. She now works closely with Dr. Simon John, a leading glaucoma researcher. Her research is focused on identifying factors involved in the development of aqueous humor drainage tissues that are crucial in maintaining ocular fluid homeostasis and hence intraocular pressure.
