I first engaged in Alzheimer's disease (AD) research during my PharmD training at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon, Portugal, which stimulated my interest in the study of neurodegenerative diseases as well as the development of novel therapeutic strategies for these disorders. During my PhD, I studied the regulation of brain cholesterol metabolism and how it affects neuronal function and development under the supervision of Dr. Elsa Rodrigues and Dr. Cecília Rodrigues. I received my PhD in 2016 from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon, Portugal. I started my postdoctoral training in 2016 under the mentorship of Dr. Gary E Landreth initially at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, and currently at Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, Indiana
