Dr. Maria Lehtinen received undergraduate training in neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania. She received her PhD in Neurobiology from Harvard University, and carried out postdoctoral training at the University of Helsinki and at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Lehtinen is currently the Hannah C. Kinney, MD, Chair in Pediatric Pathology Research at Boston Children’s Hospital and Professor of Pathology at Harvard Medical School. The Lehtinen lab carries out basic and translational research focusing on the choroid plexus - cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) system where they investigate brain development and lifelong health. Dr. Lehtinen’s research has been recognized by several awards including H.W. Mossman Award in Developmental Biology American Association of Anatomists; Mentoring Award, Boston Children’s Hospital Postdoc Association; Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE; President Barack Obama); and New York Stem Cell Foundation: Robertson Neuroscience Investigator Award.
