Jennifer J. Hunter, PhD

Dr. Jennifer Hunter is an Associate Professor in the School of Optometry and Vision Science at the University of Waterloo. She received her PhD in Physics and Vision Science (2007) from the University of Waterloo followed by postdoctoral research at the University of Rochester. She was a member of the faculty of the Flaum Eye Institute at the University of Rochester from 2011 to 2022. Dr. Hunter’s research interests include the development of non-invasive fluorescence imaging techniques to study retinal function in healthy and diseased eyes and mechanisms of light-induced retinal damage. She serves on the editorial board of the Journal of the Optical Society of America A and is an active member of the ANSI Z136 Safe Use of Lasers standards committees and subcommittees. Dr. Hunter is a recipient of a Research to Prevent Blindness Ernest & Elizabeth Althouse Special Scholar Award (2017) and a Fellow of Optica (2020).
