Dr. Wiseman is a group leader at the UK Dementia Research Institute at University College London and an Alzheimer’s Research UK Senior Research Fellow. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Oxford, her PhD at the University of Edinburgh, and undertook postdoctoral training under the supervision of Professor Elizabeth Fisher, University College London and Professor Victor Tybulewicz, Francis Crick Institute. Dr. Wiseman’s research aims to understand early onset Alzheimer’s disease in people who have Down Syndrome, a genetic condition caused by an extra copy of human chromosome 21. How the extra copy of genes on chromosome 21 affects Alzheimer’s disease development in people with Down syndrome is not fully understood and addressing this gap in knowledge is the principal focus of Dr. Wiseman’s research.
