Dr. Ashish Sharma is a postdoctoral research associate in Dr. Erik Musiek's lab in the Department of Neurology at Washington University in St. Louis. His research is centered on understanding how disruptions in circadian rhythms and sleep influence the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Sharma obtained his PhD in Neuropharmacology in India, where he investigated the neuroprotective effects of chronotherapy using fluoxetine to counteract the behavioral and molecular disruptions caused by circadian desynchrony. In his postdoctoral work, Dr. Sharma investigates the complex relationship between circadian disturbances, sleep, and Alzheimer's Disease, focusing on how these factors affect glial activation and neuroinflammation. His findings may lead to a better understanding of the impact that sleep and circadian function have on AD-related protein aggregation, offering potential avenues for therapeutic intervention.
